Perfect stand alone frother. Haven't owned it long enough to determine its stability and durability. For now it works as advertised and I couldn't be happier.
I returned my unit, brought home a second unit and the second one did the exact same thing. So it worked a day or two and then just died right. It was only then that I figured out what was wrong. I thought so too but its actually user error and there is no mention of this in the manual. If the metal tube extending down into the cup is not snug up against the top of the unit, the button stops working. Before you accept the negative reviews take it from me, I was the knucklehead. Though, in fairness the manufacturer would save everyone some aggravation if they mentioned this "safety" feature.
I use 1% milk. I wanted to be able to make lattes for our hot tea and since we don't drink coffee I didn't want to buy an espresso machine. The only con is that you have to learn to shut off the steam before you get to the bottom of the milk or you will have milk spatters. The Capresso FrothXpress answered my needs. It is easy to use and creates nice hot milk and froth. I marked the plastic milk holder with a permanent marker for the volume I like to have so I don't have to guess each time I fill it. Neat machine.
Once I did this, it Frothed perfectly. The frother worked GREAT the first day but, after cleaning it, I could not get it to froth the milk. The following day, after cleaning again, it started frothing again- The key: the little Knob MUST be pressed firmly into the connecting tube. I would highly recommend. Very easy to clean and re-assemble:takes 2 minutes.
Serving multiple cappuccinos is a lot easier and faster now that I don't have to switch my machine from "espresso" to "steam" and vice versa. Helps prolong the life of the heating element of my Breville since the machine is pretty much set for making perfect espresso every time.
